Your Walk for Peace

Guidelines

Purpose: It’s a silent mindful meditation walk—not a parade, not a march, not a vigil, nor a protest.

Keep it simple: A flag with GLOBAL WALK FOR PEACE and the name of your city is optional. Other Peace Flags can also be used . ___ No other signs, please.

Location: Establish a meeting place for starting and ending the walk such as a park or other free public space.

● Organizers: For the purpose of unifying the walk, we ask you include “Global Walk for Peace” in your flyer. We look forward to posting it on our website.

Always free: It is f ree to walk!!! Everyone is welcome; parents, children, grandparents, all genders, plus well behaved dogs.

Spread the love: Interfaith activities are highly encouraged. They are a major key to building peace.

Consider: Free bottles of water, and flowers. Orange / white headbands can be provided before the walk. Free orange & white yarn “Peace Bracelets” can be offered after the walk. The Joshua Tree Global Walk For Peace provided these items and placed them on a welcome table in front of the stage area.

SAFETY: Inform the local Police Department that a walk will be occurring. Bring a copy of your flyer showing the date and time.

Set the mood: Play the “Walk for Peace” song (link to lyrics) by Snehashis Priya Barua while people arrive to get everyone in the right mind space. Song for Walk for Peace – True Story: Monks & Aloka Walk from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB7EafjjXVg&t=13s
